Large Asian Energy Company (2021) – Net Zero strategy and Carbon Neutral Product Development. Assisted client through the process of understanding the voluntary carbon market, developing Carbon Neutral energy products including detailed market analysis, supplier screening, reputational risk management and carbon credit procurement structuring.
BEIS /Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (2021) – Voluntary Carbon Market Integrity initiative (VCMIi). Trove Research was part of an international consortium led by the Meridian Institute, to develop authoritative guidance on corporate use of carbon credits. The work involved extensive stakeholder engagement and consultation, building on work by a wide range of initiatives. Outputs will be shared and refined during the 2021 in the run up to COP26. Trove Research remains an active contributor to the VCMIi through the Expert Advisory Group.
Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (2021) – Demand, Supply & Prices for Voluntary Carbon Credits. Trove Research conducted a 9-month study, in collaboration with UCL, to produce a comprehensive and detailed analysis of future demand, supply and prices for voluntary carbon credits. Carbon reduction plans for 5000 companies were used to forecast future demand, and satellite modelling to estimate potentials for forest preservation and reforestation, coupled with economic modelling to calculate the opportunity costs of land use. The project also assessed the potential for Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) and renewable energy in least developed countries.
AP7 (Swedish National Pension Fund) (2021) – Climate Strategies of 14 International Oil & Gas Companies. Trove Research conducted a detailed analysis of the climate strategies of 14 international oil companies, to assess their relative levels of climate ambition, and compare their visions of the future oil market. Multiple criteria to assess the climate strategies and future market scenarios. Recommendations were made on how oil companies should prepare their scenarios, in order for investors to better assess how prepared companies are for the energy transition.
Private Equity Fund (2020) – Climate Transition Investment Strategy. – Trove Research created the investment strategy and pitch documentation for a new climate transition fund. The strategy covered ten investment subsectors with high growth and return potential for low carbon investment.
EDF Renewables (2018 – 2020) – Guy Turner, was seconded to for two years at EDF Renewables as Strategy and Analysis Manager in the London office. In this role he oversaw market and financial analysis underpinning investments in offshore wind, onshore wind, solar and battery storage, including detailed competitor analyses and an auction bidding strategy for offshore wind.
BP Economics (2017) – Energy Economics Support. In 2017 Guy Turner supported the BP Economics team for 6 months working on the BP Energy Outlook analysing future energy demand across multiple sectors, including the built environment and developing countries. Guy also responsible for developing a short-term tight oil forecasting model.
Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (2016) – Review of Renewable Energy Policies in Mexico and India. Trove Research undertook a detailed review of renewable energy policies and economics in India and Mexico to identify how these countries could accelerate the build out of renewable energy.
Renewable Energy Project Developer (2016) – Ireland Market Entry Strategy. On behalf of a leading renewable energy developer, Trove Research undertook a strategic review of the Irish renewable energy market, covering future demand, policy and regulation, and competitive landscape. This resulted in the client making significant investments in Ireland.
Sandbag (2015) – Cost of complying with European climate targets to 2030. This project involved a detailed analysis of abatement costs for all EU countries under the Effort Sharing Decision as part of the EU’s 2030 Climate Action Plan.
Green Investment Bank (2015) – Green Investment Data System. Trove Research designed and implemented a process for capturing and reporting on the capital invested in green infrastructure in the UK. This was used as an important reference point for the bank’s activities, such as capital raising and investor communication.
Global Gas Company (2015) – Global Carbon Market Analysis. Trove Research undertook at thorough review of the world’s active and potential carbon markets in California-Quebec, Australia, Kazakhstan and British Columbia. The analysis included price projections using fundamental abatement cost models.
